Group 0+ Car Seats are an essential item if you're travelling in a car with your tiny baby. There are multiple brands to choose from as seen on BuggyBaby, which are all lightweight, easy to move around with your sleeping baby inside, and most are compatible with pushchairs meaning you won't have to move baby from seat to seat whilst you're out and about.
Buy Group 0+ infant car seats for fantastic prices from all the best brands like Maxi Cosi and Britax. BuggyBaby offer free and fast delivery with a dedicated customer support team should you need any help. We've compiled a buyers guide for our favourite selection of essential car seats. These Group 0+ Car Seats are practical, efficient, and will hug your baby like a big bear. With the option of ISOFIX bases to connect your Group 0+ Car Seat to your cars ISOFIX points or a 3-point seat belt installation, you can't go wrong.
A Group 0+ (0-13kg) Car Seat is the very first stage for your baby and has the lowest weight range. Group 0+ Car Seats are especially designed for children from birth to around 12-15 months. Because of this, these seats weigh less than other car seats and take up less space than car seats used for older children.
As babies develop and grow, their organs, back and neck need additional protection when travelling. The cushioning and shape of their car seats are therefore noticeably different to others. Car seats in Group 0+, like the Britax Baby Safe i-Size Bundle, enable your child to face a rearward direction which supports the baby in collision or sharp stopping situations by reducing directional impact. Also, they're installed with an adjustable base that allows your child's position to be changed from seated to lying flat. The bases can usually be used to fit other car seats as your child grows which adds value for money and convenience for the parent whilst looking after a newborn.
Group 0+ car seats including the Maxi Cosi CabrioFix Car Seat + FamilyFix Base are likely to attach to a pushchair frame to complete a 'travel system'. This transfer can be made whilst your little nipper is still safely harnessed in the seat which is a bonus. This adds convenience to any journeys taken with your newborn, especially as a new parent. However, only Group 0+ car seats can be used in this way. The ISOFIX FamilyFix Base that comes as a bundle with the Maxi Cosi CabrioFix Car Seat or the Maxi Cosi Pebble Car Seat will last 3.5 years, so when your baby has outgrown the Group 0+ Car Seat, the compatible Group 1 Maxi Cosi Pearl Car Seat fits onto the base perfectly. Most of these seats are available with and without the FamilyFix Base which means you don't need to buy this item again.

This snuggle pod gives your newborn ultimate protection whilst either strolling or in-car. This from-birth rearward facing car seat fits in front or back car seats, using 3-point in car seat belts! Brilliantly, you wont have the trouble of waking your little one when moving this seat from car to pushchair. This swift mover is a featherweight at 4kg and easy to handle. Compatible with the Cosatto Port Car Seat ISOFIX Base if you prefer, as well as the Cosatto Giggle 2 Pushchair, the Cosatto Woop Pushchair, the Cosatto Fly Pushchair, the Cosatto Wow Pushchair and the Cosatto Ooba Pushchair. This gives you a fantastic choice to choose from!
Group 0+ Car Seats are recognised as a newborns first car seat. The indicators for moving on to the next size car seat include when a child's weight is around 13kg and therefore no longer within the weight limit for this group. Also, if they have reached a height limit for this group (my how quickly they grow!) or the adjustable harness doesn't fit any more as their torso is too high. Remember that the harness should be positioned at 2cm above your nipper's shoulder. As well as this, you should move your baby onto the next car seat group when you notice that when seated, their head comes up higher than the protective headrest of the seat (or their eyes are level with the top of the headrest).
