UPPAbaby Vista Pushchair Review – At A Glance

If you’re a parent, or a parent to be, then we’re pretty sure that you will have heard of the Vista. Not only does it have a string of celebrity fans, such as Hilary Duff and Josh Brolin: it’s won many awards and accolades. So, does it live up to the hype?

Our seasoned testing team took a look at the latest model, the UPPAbaby Vista 2019 Pushchair. For the purposes of the review, we checked out the model in UPPAbaby Vista 2019 Pushchair – William Chambray Oxford fabrics. However, other colours are available – keep reading to learn more.

Value – 8/10

The UPPAbaby Vista is on the pricey side, with an RRP of £969.99. For this, you’ll get the chassis with seat, seat fabrics, and an extendable sunshade with UPF 50+ protection. Then, there’s a Carrycot, complete with its own raincover, bug shield and carry case. Finally, there’s a raincover and bug shield for the seat.

In short, you get a lot in the box! This, plus the solid feel of the pushchair, makes it decent value compared to other models in the luxury pushchair market. So, we feel that the UPPAbaby Vista merits a high score here.

Looks – 10/10

With its sleek chassis, leather accents and quilted, luxurious finishes, the Vista is beautifully crafted. Its design isn’t quirky, like other high-end pushchairs but isn’t too traditional, either. In short, it’s ideal for parents that like their pushchairs to look elegant without being over the top.

The Vista has been around for quite a few years – the ‘old’ Vista dates back to 2017 – with later models having subtle differences. The 2019 model comes from a range of gorgeous colours, ranging from the sleek grey of the William Chambray Oxford reviewed here, to the icy tones of UPPAbaby Vista 2019 Pushchair – Bryce White Marl. And not forgetting the sophisticated tones of the UPPAbaby Vista 2019 Pushchair – Spenser Grey/Yellow Tartan. Regardless of which model you choose, all 2019 Vistas feature a 100% leather handlebar and bumper bar, which matures with use to develop a nice patina.

Function – 8/10

The UPPAbaby Vista comes pretty much ready to go. Open the box, unfold the chassis and pop on the wheels – it takes just a couple of minutes. The fuss-free, all-in-one construction scores highly with our testers.

UPPAbaby Vista 2019 Pushchair - William Chambray Oxford

The UPPAbaby Vista weighs in at 8.8kg. That’s pretty standard for an All Round Pushchair and we could steer it with one hand if needed.

The Vista’s fold is pretty good, and we love that you can fold it with or without the seat on (naturally, you’ll need to remove the carrycot if you want to fold it down). However, it loses points for two reasons: first, it doesn’t stand firm when folded, and the autolock doesn’t hold the handlebar in place.

Its dimensions when folded with the seat attachment are 44 x 65.3 x 83.8 cm and 42.6 x 65.3 x 83.3 cm without. Yes, it’s a substantial pushchair – in fact, it’s on the wide side – but its compact fold should still fit in most car boots.

As you’d expect, the handlebar is easy to extend to suit pushers of different heights. It’s easy to extend, thanks to the central button located in the centre of the handlebar. Simply press and pull up or down to suit.

The Vista has amazing steering, and is designed so that you can push it with one hand. That said, if you’ve got a baby plus lots of things in the under seat basket then you’ll want to use two hands, especially in tighter spots, as this is a substantial, solid pushchair.

Its turn cycle is pretty small too. While it’s not marketed as an off-road pushchair, the front and rear suspension evens out lumps and bumps. As a result, it feels great on grassy paths and on the pavement.

This is located to the right of the rear wheel. It’s a nice substantial size and is easy to operate, whether you’re wearing slimline shoes or trainers. It holds the Vista firm, so you can bring it to a safe stop on hills or cafe stops.

Comfort – 9/10

This versatile pushchair comes with a 5-point harness, which is simple to open and close thanks to the large central button. Plus you can adjust the harness 3 ways, around the shoulder and leg area. This means you can make precise adjustments to keep your baby safe and comfortable.

The two-way seat is a must for most parents and the Vista doesn’t disappoint. It’s easy to switch it from parent facing to world facing. Just press the two side buttons, lift, release and switch. The seat features an impressive six position recline – it doesn’t lie fully flat however, so is recommended you use it with babies from 3 months upward. However, as the carrycot is included, you don’t have to worry about that. We also like the leg rest, which is easy to adjust into lots of different positions to suit your baby.

Plus, we love the zip-up part of the canopy, which allows you to get air flow through the Vista on hot days.

Plus, the seat is really easy to recline, using the neat little lever. So you can do it with one hand, which makes life easier for parents. The pivot-style bumper bar (also decked out in beautiful real leather) is easy to lift and gives your child something extra to hang on to.

Is The Vista Car Seat Compatible?

You can transform the Vista into a Pushchair Travel System, giving you the convenience to attach a car seat to the chassis. The easiest option is to purchase the custom-fit UPPAbaby Mesa i-Size Infant Car Seat which fits without adaptors. The Vista will fit with other car seats from brands such as Cybex and Nuna, but you’ll need to shop carefully to get the correct adaptors.

UPPAbaby Vista Pushchair Review: Bonus – 8/10

What makes the UPPAbaby Vista different to other pushchairs out there? Here’s where we feel it deserves extra points:

The Vista’s under storage basket is simply massive! It’s the perfect size and shape to accommodate all your baby stuff. It’s a real plus for parents on the go.

Flexible Seating Options

The Vista is a great All Round Pushchair as it stands. However, what makes it special is the multiple seating options. The standard seat can take up to 50kgs, which is ideal for toddlers. But if you have another child on the way: what next?

The Vista gives you flexibility. Add the UPPAbaby Vista Rumble Seat 2019 in your choice of colour to create a double stroller that can transport two children. The Rumble Seat is suitable from 6 months, so if you’ve got a newborn, simply pop them into the Vista’s carrycot and have your toddler travel rumble-style!

Be aware that the extra weight may compromise the Vista’s steering somewhat. So, if you’re going to be going on long walks with two, then a traditional side-by-side Twin & Tandem Pushchair might be preferable. But if you’re looking to transport both on the short school run, then the Rumble Seat saves you buying another pushchair.

As well as looking stunning, the included carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeping and includes a perforated mattress pad. As a result, it doubles as baby’s first bed, potentially doing away with the need to buy a separate cot or Moses basket.

As mentioned briefly above, the UPPAbaby Vista comes with a generous sprinkling of Pushchair Accessories for the price, so you won’t have to worry about buying an extra raincover or even a mosquito net – that goes for both the toddler seat and the carrycot.

If you’re looking for extra warmth during the winter, then we’d recommend UPPAbaby Cozy Ganoosh Footmuff. This gorgeous item is ultra plush, with an elasticated hood to keep little ears protected from icy blasts, plus a neck warmer. In fact, UPPAbaby claims that it’ll keep your little one warm in temperatures as low as -29C!

Plus, when your toddler is walking confidently but still tires on longer treks, then UPPAbaby Vista PiggyBack Ride Along Board is worth a look. This clips onto the back of the Vista, allowing children up to 22kg to hitch a lift while you stroll. In theory, this makes the pushchair truly versatile, capable of transporting not just one, nor two but three children at once.

And if you’re planning to travel, then the UPPAbaby Vista Travel Bag will protect your Vista from knocks and bumps. At its price point, we’d conclude this is a good idea.
