Phil & Teds Voyager Pushchair Review
Phil & Teds Voyager Pushchair Review
The Phil & Teds Voyager Pushchair forms one part of the brand new 2016 collection from Phil & Teds. Ideal for parents with newborn twins, one newborn or siblings – it’s been made to suit all types of parents and has been nicknamed the ‘chameleon’ of the buggy world. We couldn’t wait to test out the newest edition to the family.
You can feel the quality in the material of the seat unit, it’s soft and well-padded and a ‘liner-like’ cushion is included providing both comfort and extra protection for the seat itself. Available in the iconic Phil & Teds black or red, the Voyager is also available in two brand new colours: blue marl and grey marl. These almost denim-like styles both look and feel great.
The seat has a brand new style one-touch 5-point harness, simply click the middle button and all of the pieces ‘pop’ out. There are also 3 different height adjustments for the harness, so this stroller will last your child a very long time.
The best feature of the Phil & Teds Voyager has to be its transforming ability. The seat unit itself can turn into a bassinet, suitable from birth. To swap between modes, there is a clip to release the foot rest and a zip to release the head rest. It transforms into an extremely deep bassinet, and with the use of extra supports hidden in the seat unit, provides a very sturdy ‘carry-cot’ like cot. This bassinet can also be used off of the buggy – making it even more practical.
The seat unit can be both rear and forward facing, with a button located on either side pushed in the seat will release and can be placed facing in either direction. It also has a very deep one-handed recline. Plus, it can even face in either direction when in bassinet mode.
If you’re a parent that likes functionality and good looks, then the Voyager is definitely the one for you. Not only does the Double Kit allow for a second child to hop-on, it allows for two newborns to travel in the same luxurious comfort. It has the same new style 5-point harness, seat liner and sun canopy with a zip-out extension.
Transforming from seat unit to bassinet, it can also be used off of the stroller in bassinet mode. With the use of the Double Kit, the Voyager is able to create plentiful combinations. It has the same functionality as the original seat unit, and you can tell that this is a high quality product that was meant to be used and purchased alongside the Voyager and not just as an optional extra.
To fold, turn the front wheels outwards and fold down the sun canopy of the seat unit. Press the buttons located on either side of the seat unit (inside) to release the foot rest upwards. Next, whilst pulling out a button on the side (see pictured) pull up on the bar located under the seat.
If you want your Phil & Teds Voyager to be free standing, simply align the handle bar with the frame before folding. It’s a great space saving stroller, plus it can even fold with the Double Kit still attached.
There is also an automatic frame-lock that clicks into place once the Voyager has been folded.
To un-fold, unclip the auto-lock and pull up on the handle. You will hear the frame click into place, once you have done this simply push down the seat unit (until in the original position) until you hear this click into place too and you’re ready to go.
Now this is where the Voyager really comes into its own. It has brand new 12” aeromaxx puncture free rear tyres and 8” shock absorbing, lockable swivel wheels. It glides like a dream and handles all sorts of terrain extremely well, nothing seemed to phase the Voyager.
There is a height adjustable handle which has multiple positions, great for both parents. Also located on the handle bar is the brake. It is a new style hand brake with a green and red indicator, showing whether the brake is on or off. We loved not having to poke our foot around after the brake pedal when the Double Kit was attached.
Mud guards above the rear wheels stop both mud flicking up and little fingers getting trapped.
The sun canopy provides a full coverage of your little one inside and there is an extra flip out visor for those extra sunny days. We love how large this canopy is, it literally covers head to toe – plus it has a zippered pocket on the side for your valuables.
The under seat storage basket holds up to 10kg of important baby stuff. There is also a pocket located on the side of the sun canopy which zips up and has a handy rubber headphone eyelet. So if you’re a parent that likes to listen to music and know that your essentials are locked away, this is the type of storage for you. We love just how close to hand our phone and keys were whilst out.

The Double Kit is the accessory that the Voyager was built for. If it’s a double you want to create, then the Double Kit is what you will need. It’s suitable from birth and has the same functionality as the main seat unit. There are also fitted Raincovers and Sun Covers available allowing for double use in all weather conditions.
The Phil & Teds Voyager also has the ability to take a car seat. With the use of Car Seat Adaptors (from £35), you can place a car seat in either the main seat or double kit position. For car journeys, we found this extremely convenient as we didn’t need to take our little one of the car seat and wake them before getting into the path.
