UPPAbaby Vista Review
UPPAbaby Vista Review
For a review of the latest model please see;
It’s one of the most raved about Pushchairs, with so many awards that we lost count. It’s still going strong and with new colours added to the range, we thought we’d take it out for a spin.
It’s a buggy designed to grow with your family, suitable from birth with the use of a carrycot to a fully walking toddler with the seat. The Vista includes everything from raincovers to insect nets; so there’s no extra cost for when a freak shower appears or if you’re travelling somewhere exotic. We found it to be perfectly designed to hold either the seat unit or carrycot, and with it being a high rider buggy; our little one was more than kept comfy.
The Vista is available in 8 colours including: Lindsey Wheat, Ella Green (our favourite!), Taylor Indigo, Denny Red, Jake Black, Mica Silver, Drew Orange and Olivia Pink.
The transferable carrycot is ideal for a newborn, and is suitable for overnight sleeping; with a ventilated carrycot base and mattress. The easy to clean material that lines the carrycot is ideal and the mattress cover is made from ‘soy fibre’ meaning it’s organic and comfy (so no allergic reactions here!). We found the inside to be extremely comfortable and cosy.
There’s a simple one handed release system which enables you to easily lift off the carrycot. It’s great for speedy change-overs.
We also love the fact that UPPAbaby has a Bassinet Stand (from £87.90) available for whenever your child falls asleep in the carrycot. Without wanting to awaken them from sleeping you could transfer them from the chassis to the bedroom easily.
The seat is easily attached and has five possible recline positions, with a near enough upright position being ideal for any venturing eyes or lie flat position for any sleepy heads. The five-point safety harness is ideal against any little fingers as has a two finger release. The Vista also comes with a Belly Bar that can either be left on or taken off depending on the age and how adventurous the child is; the belly bar allows for itself to be left to “swing” for when not in use which is good for when you’re wanting to take your child out. An adjustable leg rest and extendable seat height (comes from being able to move the sun canopy higher) accommodates for taller child. The seat is also reversible between rear and front facing so you can take your pick as to how your child sits. When clicking on and off both the seat and carrycot there is a great little indicator light which switches from red to green so you can clearly see if you’ve attached the unit correctly.
There’s a simple one step mechanism that allows it to be ever so easily folded. At the squeeze of a button and the push of the handle bar the Vista will unlock and allow itself to be fully folded by pressing it down to the floor. Once folded the Vista is able to stand up which we found to be extremely helpful when storing the buggy inside the house, and an auto-lock stops it from coming apart.
The UPPAbaby Vista is also able to fold with both the carry cot and car seat still attached, however to make it more compact you can take off the seat unit or carrycot when folding. A Vista Travel Bag (from £69.99) is a great purchase in order to make it easier to move around, or take on holiday.
The Vista has a 4 wheel shock absorbing suspension system meaning any rough terrain will feel as softer ride as ever. Each wheel is fully made of rubber, so there’s never any chance of a puncture. During long distance walking the option of locking the front wheels comes in very handy to stop any unnecessary swiveling.
It is a push-on/ push-off brake system, so there’s no hurting anyone’s toes by trying to lift a break as it’s a simple tap on a button. We love this feature because during the summer months when wearing flip-flops, the movement of having to tap a button with your foot instead of trying to raise a lever used to be so painful but now there’s no trapping of toes.
On both the carrycot and seat unit, there are extendable ventilated ‘drop-down’ sun visors (that each have an SPF 50+ certificate) ensuring the perfect climate inside the pram. These can be hidden beneath the normal hood for whenever they aren’t needed. This nifty little mechanism is perfect for covering up in the sun and we especially loved the fact it could be hidden away for whenever the sun disappeared. Both sun canopy’s are fully retractable and removable.
An extra for the carrycot – a zip is located at the base of the canopy which when undone, reveals a ventilated panel, which is ideal for the summer.
There is a peek-a-boo style window on the top of the seat canopy which is held down by magnetic strips so there’s no chance of waking up baby when having a cheeky peek. The window itself is made out of mesh material, allowing for air to circulate through the buggy. The canopy itself is also height adjustable, and will slide up or downwards in a simple motion for when your child grows.
The under buggy storage is an easy-access basket, with either attachment seat it is still very easily accessible. With 2 pockets sown into the sides it’s excellent for knowing exactly where you’ve left your car keys! The basket is also removable so if anything does get spilt, it’s extremely easy to clean.
Included in the price you will receive a seat unit, carrycot, 2x Rain covers, 2x mosquito nets; one of each fitting either the carrycot or seat. These both zip on and off of the sun canopy, giving full rain or insect protection. A removable belly bar is also an expense spared, as one comes with the seat unit. It also has a removable and washable cover, hiding any foam so that your child can’t take a bit; perfect!
The Vista also comes with Maxi-Cosi/ BeSafe iZi Go Infant Car Seat Adaptors, which allow the buggy to hold a car seat on the chassis and turn it into quite the perfect travel system.
We love that UPPAbaby have created the Vista Rumble Seat (from £99) and PiggyBack (from £72.99); both of which (depending on their age) are brilliant ideas for adding space to take another child. The Rumble Seat quite simply clips into place below the normal seat onto the chassis, where there is plenty of room for another child to sit comfortably underneath. The Rumble Seat is suitable for 6 months + and has a maximum capacity of 15kg, it is also compatible with a car seat (sold separately). There is a hood already attached which folds back when unneeded, the fabric is removable and washable, and the wheels are out of touch. A Rumble Seat Rain Shield (from £12.99) will also come in very handy for all of those unexpected freak showers!
The UPPAbaby Vista PiggyBack (from £72.99) quickly snaps on and off the buggy frame and is capable of holding up to 22kg. The Vista is also able to fold away nicely with the PiggyBack still fully attached. So depending on the child either option will simply add the means to carry them along also. We found that for weary legs the Rumble Seat worked best, but for the toddlers that want to be able to hop on and off the PiggyBack was best suited.
For any parents looking to put their own spin on the buggy, a Snack Tray (from £34.99) for any bits and bobs that your child might need close to hand is great; we added a Cup Holder (from £19.99) to catch any spillages.
